In a gala awards ceremony on the Gold Coast this weekend, Hemingway’s restaurant were awarded bronze in the Tourism Restaurant and Catering category. 14 other Whitsunday operators were successful on the night, securing a raft of gold, silver and bronze awards for the tourist region.
Hemingway’s restaurant is owned and operated by Abell Point Marina owner and Australian entrepreneur, Paul Darrouzet. Opening Hemingway’s in 2017 aligned with the marina’s vision to provide first-class facilities and excellence in quality and value. Those values have also become the ethos of the popular waterfront restaurant.
In June 2018, The Garden Bar at Hemingway’s was opened to diversify the restaurant offer, creating an open-air waterfront lounge bar for marina guests and visitors to enjoy a cold drink and light snacks from 4pm. The Garden Bar has been a hugely successful addition to the Hemingway’s offer, with the entire venue being perfectly placed on the waterfront in the south marina village. Visitors from returning day trips and those private guests staying at the marina enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of The Garden Bar before heading back to their nearby accommodation for the evening.
Hemingway’s was awarded a chef hat in January 2018, after only 7 months in business. This accolade coupled with the recent bronze at the Queensland Tourism Awards is cementing Hemingway’s as a restaurant of choice in the Whitsundays.
Marketing & Business Development Manager, Joscelyn O’Keefe explains “Hemingway’s plays a vital role in the development of the destination precinct we are creating at Abell Point Marina. With a diverse range of cafes and restaurants now available at the marina, as well as 80% of the on-water tourism operators in the region calling Abell Point Marina home, we have a full range of leisure and adventure experiences to offer guests visiting the Whitsunday region.”
“To be awarded a bronze in this category at Queensland state level is an incredible achievement for the team and one which we are all very proud of. As with all facets of the business, our focus is on continuous improvement and constantly ensuring the food offer and service meet guest expectations.”
‘’Over the next 6 – 12 months we will be introducing a host of events to drive new business to the restaurant and bar. From monthly networking nights for both men and women, to long Sunday lunches and pop-up parties in The Garden Bar, we are looking to introduce the venue to a new group of customers. The prime waterfront location, focus on innovate cuisine and the stunning décor and atmosphere, we are perfectly positioned to become the venue of choice in the Whitsundays over the next few years.”
