Whilst there are several claims about the origin of the espresso martini, the most common is the tale of the British supermodel who walked into Brasserie Soho the last 1980’s and asked for a drink which would ‘wake her up’. The bar tender is reported to have been right next to the coffee machine and there were coffee grounds everywhere, so he combined that with the spirit of the time, which was vodka and voila a legacy was born.
You either love them or hate them, but the espresso martini is certainly having a rebirth of late. From a late-night pick me up to a mid-afternoon coffee alternative, we love espresso martinis at The Garden Bar at Hemingway’s. In the warm afternoon Whitsunday sun, when you need a little pick me up after a long day – either out on the water, at work or cruising around Airlie Beach – espresso martinis are just the thing.
To celebrate the launch of The Garden Bar, we have developed a special range of espresso martinis to excite the taste buds and get the evening started.
Come on down to The Garden Bar and try for yourself.
