Hemingway’s restaurant at Abell Point Marina joined an exclusive club this week when it was awarded its first Chef Hat by the Australian Good Food Guide.
Hemingway’s now joins Walter’s Lounge and qualia as the only restaurants in the Whitsundays to offer a hatted experience.
Marketing and business development manager, Joscelyn O’Keefe said the award, after only seven months in business, was a major achievement. “It’s really good news and everyone is really excited and the announcement was very unexpected too” she said.
Ms O’Keefe noted it was pleasing to see Hemingway’s making culinary waves on a state level and joined only 65 restaurants across Queensland to be awarded Chef Hat’s.
So what is the secret to Hemingway’s success?
“It’s a combination of all factors” Ms O’Keefe said. “Fresh produce and having an innovative team. Head Chef Matt Dixon is a young chef but has lots of great ideas and has a great team behind him. And what they do in the kitchen is reflected in this award.”
