Starting 2018 with a bang, the team at Hemingway’s are delighted to announce we received our first Chef Hat this week! Awarded by the Australian Good Food Guide for food excellence Hemingway’s joins only two other restaurants in the Whitsundays to have been previously awarded this accolade.
Head Chef Matt Dixon and his team have worked incredibly hard since the restaurant opened 7 months ago to ensure the menu boasts a range of fresh local produce and dishes with both innovate and exciting flavours. The focus for the kitchen team at Hemingway’s is always quality, as well as pushing the food envelope to bring our customers something new and exciting.
Joscelyn O’Keefe, marketing and business development manager explains “This is a great achievement for Matt and his team. With the restaurant only being open for 7 months, to achieve this honour in such a short space of time has been worth all the hard work and long hours they have committed to the business. Their innovative approach to menu creation is to be commended and is certainly the appeal for our customers. We are all looking forward to another great year in 2018.’’
Over recent years the Airlie Beach food scene has certainly been developing and for Hemingway’s to be one of 65 restaurants throughout Queensland, with the majority based in Brisbane/ Gold Coast, to receive a Chef Hat is quite an achievement. Over 300 restaurants around the country were awarded with Chef Hats for 2018. For the full list, click here.
Matt Dixon, Head Chef says of the win “For me personally this is incredibly exciting, but it is a team effort. For us it is about producing quality dishes that taste sensational but also look great on the plate, it is about the whole dining experience for the customer.”
We have some great events coming up over the coming months, which will once again showcase the diversity of the menu. A Clipper Special Lunch is scheduled for January 14, to celebrate welcoming the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race to the marina. Also, something special is planned for Valentine’s Day this year, so be sure to watch our What’s On page for more details.
