Arvid is a recent addition to the Hemingway’s team. Arvid moved from the bright lights of Sydney to be our new Restaurant Manager. One of the main reasons for the move was the prospect of a relaxed Queensland lifestyle and to escape the big city rat race, after 12 years managing various restaurants throughout the harbor city.
Arvid’s favourite cuisine depends on the mood, the company and drinks on offer, but when those elements align he is partial to modern Australian with a French/ European influence. He is also quite a fan of Thai and Korean food, having spent time in Asia in his youth. Hailing from Germany originally, Arvid spent time travelling the globe before landing on our shores gaining a wealth of hospitality experience along the way in 5* hotels, fine dining restaurants and boutique bistros.
If Arvid was stranded on a desert island, his three must-haves would be his best mate for company, a fishing rod plus a bottle of wine (apparently that is one combined item!!) and a box of matches to start a fire, presumably (we thought) for entertainment and warmth, but apparently to create smoke signals to help get him off the island!
Arvid’s number one Whitsunday tip is: rent a boat and discover the islands for yourself!
Which dishes does Arvid recommend on the Hemingway’s menu: Chargrilled Octopus, Oysters, Cured Salmon (we are sensing a love of seafood perhaps!)
