Hemingway’s was delighted to be the lunch stop on the Great Whitsunday Food Network – Farm to Plate event hosted last week in the Whitsunday region. Guests were treated with a full day tour across the region stopping in at various farms networking with a range of local producers and giving guests the opportunity to see the range of fresh local produce available in the region from Bowen to Mackay.
The premise behind the event is to get producers connected with the end user supply chain to ensure that the freshest local produce is making it’s way to the restaurants, cafes and food outlets in the region. Hemingway’s is focused on using local produce in it’s menus and where possible substituting locally produced ingredients with each other to keep the quality of the produce in the Whitsunday region at a high level and accessible for local restaurants and food outlets.
The event was hosted by celebrity chef Matt Golinski & ABC’s Pip Courtney, who both made passionate speeches about the importance of the Farm to Plate movement. A light lunch of canapes was served at Hemingway’s and the guests enjoyed drinks and cocktails on a magical Whitsunday afternoon.
