As the great author Ernest Hemingway once said in his famous book, The Old Man and the Sea “Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.”
Well, we feel like luck is on our side, despite the recent weather set backs we are on track with the restaurant and ready to open 12 May 2017. After a full renovation, including assembling an amazing team of experienced, professional kitchen and hospitality staff, we are excited to introduce Hemingway’s to the Whitsunday food scene. Located in the heart of the award-winning Abell Point Marina precinct, Hemingway’s will offer modern Australian cuisine in a relaxed waterfront setting.
With obvious inspiration from the great literary genius Ernest Hemingway, our connection to the ocean at Hemingway’s is obvious. With a range of fresh seafood options on the menu and unrivaled ocean views, we have designed the restaurant so guests can enjoy the relaxed tropical Queensland way of dining. Being a well-travelled writer, Hemingway often talked in his books about food and dining being a sensory experience and being about much more than just the food on your plate. We couldn’t agree more. Our vision for Hemingway’s is that your dining experience should be about not only great food but also very much about the service, the atmosphere and the company you dine with.
Our head Chef, Matt Dixon has worked closely with local producers to create a menu which is exciting and contemporary, whilst honouring the beautiful seafood that we have access to in this region. Hemingway was a big fan of seafood, particularly oysters, so we recommend you start your dining experience with a taste of the sea and a refreshing cocktail.
We are genuinely delighted to be launching another quality restaurant in Airlie Beach. Over recent years the Airlie Beach food scene has really taken off and the range and diversity of venues is impressive for a small regional town. We hope you will come and enjoy a Hemingway’s experience in the near future.
